In this special episode of the Profit Made Simple podcast, we sit down with Jye Lee, a 27-year-old powerhouse in the fitness industry, whose journey is nothing short of inspiring.

Over the past few years, Jye has overcome immense personal loss, grappled with self-destructive behaviours, and built a thriving business empire.

From opening a booming gym in Perth, to launching an online personal training program and clothing line, Jye’s story is a testament to resilience, dedication, and the ability to turn adversity into opportunity.

A Gym Empire in the Making

Jye Lee’s story begins with his love for fitness. He currently runs a state-of-the-art facility, Zero Gym, in Perth. Despite being in its early stages, the gym is already so popular it frequently operates on a waitlist. But that’s not where his influence ends—Jye also runs a successful online personal training business that signs up 5 to 6 clients weekly, and a rapidly growing clothing line, Jyeza.

Jye isn’t stopping there. He has bigger plans, including creating a VA (virtual assistant) business and developing a course on growing an online personal training empire. For someone who’s just 27, juggling five businesses is a massive feat.

Turning Tragedy into Strength

Despite his current success, Jye’s journey hasn’t been without significant hardship. Three years ago, Jye lost his father to a sudden heart attack. The shock of losing his dad, with whom he had unresolved issues, took a toll on him emotionally.

In the following months, Jye lost two uncles to illness. These losses, compounded by unresolved grief, led him down a path of self-destruction, using drugs to numb the pain.

Jye openly shares the emotional struggles he went through during this period, acknowledging that he hit rock bottom.

Yet, despite these personal tragedies, Jye found the inner strength to turn his life around. His commitment to fitness and self-improvement played a pivotal role in his transformation.

From Rock Bottom to Muay Thai Champion

To escape his spiral of grief and bad habits, Jye made a life-changing decision. He flew to Thailand for four months, where he threw himself into training, focusing on Muay Thai. Under the guidance of a nutritionist and personal trainer, Jye shed 12 kilograms in six weeks and participated in a high-profile fight at Bangla Stadium.

This experience became a turning point in his life, giving him a renewed sense of purpose and strength.

Jye attributes much of his success to the discipline he cultivated during this time. His father had always wanted him to pursue fighting, and stepping into the ring gave Jye the closure and focus he needed to move forward.

The Importance of Mentorship and Community

Throughout the episode, Jye highlights the value of having mentors and a supportive community. He credits his former girlfriend for believing in him when others doubted his potential in the fitness industry. Her belief in him spurred Jye on to pursue his passion, despite the naysayers.

He also talks about how finding a mentor changed his business trajectory. According to Jye, mentorship has been “massive” for his growth, providing him with knowledge, structure, and systems that would have taken years to develop on his own.

A Business Owner’s Biggest Lessons

When asked about the biggest lesson he’s learned since opening Zero Gym, Jye’s answer is simple: “Embrace the moment, and don’t stress when things go wrong.”

His business model, which includes a semi-private training system with a personalised approach for each client, has proven to be a hit. At Zero Gym, they focus on community, offering nutrition and training plans that are tailored to individual needs.

Jye’s business journey hasn’t been without its own set of challenges. When he and Dan started working together, there were external pressures, including potential legal charges that could have sent Jye to jail for two years. Despite these uncertainties, Jye continued to push forward, building his business and putting in place systems that would allow it to run without him.

Zero Gym: No Excuses, Just Results

Jye’s Zero Gym brand stands for “Zero Excuses,” a motto that reflects his no-nonsense approach to both fitness and life. The gym’s personalised training programs, specialist nutrition services, and tight-knit community have led to rapid growth and an overwhelmingly positive response from clients.

The Power of a Personal Brand

Jye emphasizes the importance of building a strong personal brand in today’s business landscape. His advice? Be authentic and unapologetically yourself. In the fitness industry, Jye believes that people are drawn to simplicity and realness. By offering easy-to-understand, actionable advice and maintaining a sense of humour, Jye has built a loyal following both online and in his gym.

What’s Next for Jye Lee?

Looking ahead, Jye is working on launching Zero Gym Academy, which will offer a Cert III and IV in fitness, as well as business mentorship. His goal is to provide aspiring fitness professionals with the skills they need to thrive in the industry, drawing from his own experiences to help others succeed.

Jye is also focused on expanding his online presence, building his personal brand, and continuing to grow his business empire.
